LED Technology
To achieve an outstanding luminous output in all the 64 Quad LED pixel clusters, the versatile and compact VPL 1220-20 uses a larger 6 x 6 mm imaging area with four Full-Color LED chips per pixel. By using this technology is possible to increase the output in all colors, while avoiding multi-color shadows and scalloping. The size of an SGM Quad pixel cluster is smaller than the visual acuity of a standard human eye, which means that the four LED chips in each cluster can be seen as a single large pixel at the distance of 6 meters. The LEDs expected lifetime is 50,000 hours.
Color mixing
The VPL 1220-20 uses a revolutionary In-Cluster color mixing technology to enhance the color homogeneity for each pixel. As a result, every color covers the full Quad pixel, achieving a bright and wide imaging area. The VPL 1220-20 is fully color calibrated to ensure consistency and uniformity, while containing the same powerful colors of the SGM's product family.
Superior direct view experience
Because of its top-end LED design, the VPL 1220-20 creates high visibility media patterns for viewers at large distances, but it also avoids the typical blinding effect of big pixels in close distances. By expanding the imaging area, increasing the pixel brightness and pre-mixing the colors inside the Quad cluster, SGM improves considerably the viewer's experience for direct view applications.
Installation
One single VAC circuit is able to run the fixtures, with no external power supplies needed. The same multi-core cable is able to handle both power and data. This smart media system has been designed as an easy and reliable solution for complex and large installations in tight space areas, adding important energy and cost savings. When connected together, there is no gap between connected fixtures, so they can work as a single LED pixel luminaire.
Color Temperature selection
Via SGM Video Pixel Administrator software, it is possible to set the color temperature preset for the VPL 1220-20 within a 2000K - 10000K range. This is a very powerful feature to create warm or cold ambient lighting, but also to emulate the white color temperature coming from other light sources.
Software
To configure and manage its VP luminaires, SGM offers the Video Pixel Administrator software with real time monitoring and network capabilities. It is an intuitive, powerful, and state-of-the-art piece of software designed to take advantage of the revolutionary VPL 1220-20 technology via a single Ethernet connection. Just plug and play.
Optional data distribution
In order to give solutions for big media installations based on Video Pixel luminaires, SGM offers a powerful data distribution device: the VP Processor. This compact and reliable device can manage Gigabit ethernet networks, and it is fully compatible with ArtNet and sACN protocols. It also manages the new VP-Net protocol, created by SGM for the Video Pixel series.
IP, IK, and C-5M rating
The VPL 1220-20 is IP66-rated and IK05 protected, ensuring that the unit is kept free from externally induced particles and liquids, such as smoke fluid, dust, dirt, airborne pollution, and humidity. Being UV resistant and featuring C5-M (ISO 12944) corrosion class, it is ideal for outdoor applications, while being practically maintenance-free makes it a sustainable and long-lasting choice for indoor events and installations as well.
Thermal management
By using the Quad-pixel technology, SGM achieves a high reliability and consistency for each LED while offering a large addressable pixel. The heat is optimally distributed because each Quad-pixel Cluster is divided into four independent Full-Color LEDs. The LEDs' lifetime is ensured by this noiseless thermal management system.
Applications and Video capabilities
This video pixel linear product can achieve multiple effects and is perfect for video and lighting displays. The clear lens allows direct view of sharp pixels with an immense brightness. With its compact size, this versatile product can be used in tight space structures or integrated in big pixel-mapping setups.
Mounting options
To mount this fixture, simply attach the VPL 610-20 to any of the VPL Installation Brackets, and tighten up the screws in both sides of the profile. VPL Touring Brackets with adjustable locking knobs are also available. The VPL fixtures can be mounted in practically any installation or stage lighting application.
Included SGM technologies
ThermalDriveTM
This thermal management techonology provides Advaced Temperature Control monitored via sensors and software, keeping optimal LED junction temperatures, and ensuring maximum reliability for long-term use. SGM's predictive color mixing algorithm compesates the decay levels of color-based LEDs for superior color rendering. Finally, the ThermalDriveTM system includes cutting-edge heat removal via passive thermal tecniques and active forced-air cooling (depending on the product), specifically designed to maintain LED efficiency while extending fixture's lifetime.
TruColorTM
SGM uses Full Range Calibration in all LED fixtures over CIE space and black body curve, measured via spectrometer and SGM Illumination Lab software. The consistency of each product and its lifetime expectancy is monitored throught inbuilt sensors to compensate color shifting and to allow color temperature re-calibration. To provide the best user experience, SGM's Color Match procedure ensures accurate wavelength reproduction within the product range via colored LEDs, dichroic filters, or CMY mixing (depending on the product); all of them specified to match the SGM color palette.
